CNC & Manual Machining Services

Accurate machined parts from prototype to production — and machining after welding, so fabricated assemblies come out right.

Machining that fits the first time

CNC accuracy, manual speed

RUMIX machines components for manufacturers, OEMs and plant maintenance teams across Hamilton, the GTA and Southwestern Ontario. CNC equipment gives accuracy and repeatability; manual machining gives fast turnaround on one-offs and repairs.

Weld first, machine after

Because we’re also a fabrication shop, we weld an assembly and then machine the critical bores, faces and holes — so bearings line up and mating parts bolt together without rework.

General tolerances — what to put on your drawing

If your drawing doesn’t list a tolerance on every dimension, a general tolerance standard fills the gap. ISO 2768-1 is the most common — choosing the right class avoids paying for precision you don’t need.

ISO 2768-1 · linear dimensions (mm)
Nominal size (mm)f — finem — mediumc — coarse
0.5 – 3±0.05±0.1±0.2
over 3 – 6±0.05±0.1±0.3
over 6 – 30±0.1±0.2±0.5
over 30 – 120±0.15±0.3±0.8
over 120 – 400±0.2±0.5±1.2
over 400 – 1000±0.3±0.8±2.0

Machinability at a glance

How easily a material machines affects cycle time, tooling and cost. A relative guide for the materials we machine most:

Aluminum 6061-T6ExcellentFast cutting, good finish — fixtures and brackets
Brass / bronzeExcellentBushings, wear parts and fittings
Mild steel 1018 / A36GoodEconomical shafts, plates, general parts
Alloy steel 4140Fair–goodStrength and wear resistance for shafts and pins

How it works

Drawing to machined part

  1. Send the drawing or partDrawing, model or the worn part itself, with quantity and date.
  2. Plan the jobCNC or manual, setups and fixturing, price and lead time.
  3. MachineChecked during production against critical dimensions.
  4. Inspect & deliverDeburr, final inspection and delivery across Ontario.

CNC machining for customers in Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga, Toronto, Brampton, Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Brantford, Niagara and across Southwestern Ontario.

FAQ

Machining questions

What machining operations do you offer?
Manual and CNC milling, boring, drilling, reaming and tapping, plus machining of welded fabrications and repair parts. We also make jigs, fixtures and in-house tooling.
What tolerances can you hold?
It depends on the part size, material and feature. Put the tolerances you need on the drawing — or reference a general tolerance standard like ISO 2768 (see the table above) — and we’ll confirm what we can hold before we quote.
Do you machine one-off parts?
Yes. There is no minimum order — we machine single replacement parts, prototypes and repeat production.
Can you make a part without a drawing?
Often, yes. Bring us the worn or broken part; we can measure it, help produce a drawing and make a new one. See our equipment repair service.
What file formats do you accept?
PDF drawings, DXF/DWG and STEP files. A dimensioned sketch is fine for simple parts.

Send us your drawings.

Upload a drawing, sketch or photo and we’ll come back with a quote. No minimum order — one piece or a production run.
